As a sleep apnea expert for more than a decade, Dr. Stacey Layman originally hails from Texas but has been a resident of the Mesa area since 2003. Treating countless patients who have struggled with sleep-breathing disorders, she remains devoted to the field so that others may experience better rest and improved breathing in the future. Why Did You Decide to Become a Sleep Dentist?

Although Dr. Layman previously worked as a registered nurse and considered attending medical school at one point, her mother suggested an alternative path – dental school. After enrolling and discovering that her mother’s recommendation was indeed a good one, she eventually discovered a passion for sleep dentistry, and the rest, they say, is history!

Where Did You Study Sleep Dentistry?

After graduating with her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Layman attended the Baylor College of Dentistry, earning her dental degree. Now that she is double board-certified in dental sleep medicine, she maintains her status as a Diplomate in the American Board for Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Married to her husband Nick for more than two decades, they have two daughters whose names are Lainey and Zoe. When she’s not in the office, you’ll find her spending time with her family as well as shopping, traveling, and watching movies.
